OZAN M. OZKURAL

In 2014 Ozan Özkural co-founded Tanto Capital Partners, where he serves as Managing Partner responsible for the creation and delivery of the firm’s overall strategy and vision. Previously, between 2012-2014, Mr. Özkural had set-up and ran a part of the emerging market business of VTB Capital – Russia’s second largest financial institution – where he was responsible of a balance sheet of over US$2.5bn.

Prior to VTB Capital, Mr. Özkural spent over seven years at Merrill Lynch, where in his last role he was responsible for the origination of structured products and debt capital markets instruments within the CEEMEA region. Prior to this role, Mr. Özkural was a part of the Global Structured Financing & Principal Investments team where he was responsible for structuring and managing securitization/warehouse financing, special situation financing, real estate and private equity transactions across multiple sectors, asset classes, and regions.

Throughout his investment banking career, Mr. Özkural originated and has overseen the execution of over US$50bn of transactions across both the global Emerging Markets and Western Europe within the illiquid/mezzanine financing and principal investments space. Mr. Özkural spent his pre-investment banking career at Unilever having joined as a management trainee and held the position of a Business Group Finance Manager before leaving to join Merrill Lynch after 3 years.

Mr. Özkural is an ACMA/GCMA charter holder and has been a member of the Brookings Institution Foreign Policy Leadership Council since 2017. Mr. Özkural, representing Tanto Capital Partners, is also a strategic partner and a member of the leadership team – focusing on distressed and illiquid/mezzanine debt financing – at the San Francisco based multifamily office SF Sentry Inc established over quarter of a century ago by the leading families of San Francisco (www.sfsentry.com). He is also a member of YPO (previously the Young Presidents Organisation www.ypo.org), and an advisor & Non-Executive Director at the London based Fin-Tech firm Openpayd (www.openpayd.com).
